To best describe it, "WilsonHelps.org is the combined effort of many good-hearted citizens in the county offering a hand UP (and not just a hand OUT) to those in need with free, nearly free or greatly discounted services and assistance of many kinds." Or, in just a few words... "People Helping People In Wilson Co. Tennessee".

Waaay back in 2007, a group of local ministers and community leaders were meeting once a month to discuss how they could better assist those in the community who had unmet needs. On one occasion, the then, newly-called, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Lebanon, TN (the county seat of Wilson Co.) presented an idea to them about creating a centralized, online resource, (somewhat like today's Craigslist.com), to provide a place where people in need could look for help and those desiring to help could connect. The other leaders all agreed since they each knew of various resources and services in the area but did not have a way to easily coordinate them. The pastor's name who had that original idea was Rev. Matt Steinhauer who had his own challenge of being new to the community but did not know where to turn to assist the individuals and families who were coming to his church for assistance. Well, just a short time ago, some residents of Wilson Co. Tennessee decided to do exactly that by creating a non-profit, non-governmental website called WilsonHelps.org, somewhat like a "Craig's List" where people who were interested in wanting to help other people in our county. Today the site is a reality and continually being updated with new help topics and ways to meet those needs. Although Rev. Steinhauer is no longer involved in the operation of WilsonHelps.org, we appreciate his original vision and inspiration which motivated the dedicated volunteers who created and continue to maintain the website.

There are now almost 100 organizations which are currently offering assistance. See the most current list by clicking this link (https://wilsonhelps.org/organizations)

There are over 25 ministries and organizations in Wilson Co. (that we are aware of) where ANYONE who is hungry can get a free hot meal several times a week and free food EVERY DAY of the week! For more info, visit https://wilsonhelps.org/food-meals. If you know of any others, please CONTACT us.
